Maxwell Hall
Maxwell Hall at Syracuse University was dedicated on November 12, 1937 in ceremonies that included a speech by former President Herbert Hoover. This historic structure was posthumously named in honor of Board of Trustee member George Holmes Maxwell (class of 1888), who had created a fund to establish a “School of American Citizenship”. During a $5,000,000 renovation that was completed in 1994, this facility was linked to Eggers Hall on its south elevation. It now contains five floors of offices, conference rooms, and seminar rooms for the departments of Anthropology, Sociology, and Economics. In addition to a 200 seat auditorium, it also houses basement archaeology laboratories and the Center for Career Development. Maxwell Hall comprises 66,571 gross square feet of space.
