Smith Hall is located on the west side of Smith Drive, south of University Place, on the main campus of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. The four-story stone masonry building was originally constructed in 1902 as the Lyman C. Smith College of Applied Sciences. Today, the building houses a large art room on the fourth floor, classrooms and offices on the first through third floors for the College of Visual and Performing Arts, and shops in the basement. The last major building renovation was in 1992 and 1997 that included installation of shops in the basement, exterior restoration, and repair of the clerestory windows. In its current configuration, the building contains about 39,668 square feet of space.
