      1. Gale Observatory

The Gale Observatory houses a 24-inch Cassegrain reflecting telescope and two computer systems: one controls the telescope, and the other accommodates data acquisition and analysis and can be used to store television images. Opened in 1984 and named for distinguished Physics Professor Grant O. Gale, the observatory is an especially valuable facility for a small liberal arts college. Students in the physics department can take advantage of the facility for diverse research opportunities.
