      1. Main Hall

         Main Hall is the first of the south residence halls. It was named to honor former Grinnell College President John Hanson Thomas Main, who conceived of and carried forward the idea of Grinnell as a residential college, something true to this day.
         
         

         Main Hall includes an expansive lounge on the first floor and Gardner Lounge, a concert space that has hosted performances by Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and more.
