    1. Walker Building

The Walker Building is located on Atherton Street, across the street from the Garfield Thomas Water Tunnel. Its construction was initiated by Dr. Charles L. Hosler, Jr., former dean of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and was completed in 1977.

Walker Building houses the Department of Geography and the Department Meteorology and Atmospheric Science. It contains both department’s faculty and administrative offices, research and instructional labs, and a large auditorium for lectures and classes.

The building also houses the Joel N. Myers Weather Center, a state-of-the-art teaching facility. The center was created with a gift from Joel N. Myers, the founder, president and chairman of AccuWeather Inc. The building was named for Dr. Eric A. Walker, who served as the University’s president from 1956 to 1970.
