        The Alabama Museum of Natural History has been a part of the University since the Universities opening in 1931. The Museum consists of millions of specimens that reflect Alabama’s natural heritage. The museum is open to the public year-round.

        Smith Hall is named after Eugene Allen Smith, who was a university professor who spent 40 years surveying and mapping across the state of Alabama.
