        245 7th Avenue
        Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401

H.M. Comer Hall contains the administration for the College of Engineering and its seven departments along with the Capstone Engineering Society and a welcome center with Engineering Student Services. An auditorium and meeting room are located on the first floor along with engineering administration. The second floor is home to the departments of aerospace engineering and mechanics as well as civil, construction and environmental engineering. The third floor contains the offices for the departments of chemical and biological engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering and metallurgical and materials engineering. Classrooms, graduate student offices and faculty offices are found throughout the building. H.M. Comer was built in 1962, and named for Hugh Moss Comer, a Birmingham industrialist who had served as the Greater University Campaign's first chairman. Hugh Moss Comer was also the son of Braxton Bragg Comer for whom B.B. Comer Hall, the first engineering building on campus, was named. Because of this there was some confusion as to which Comer Hall a student had classes in. Thus, students started to use 'Mineral Industries Building' in order to refer to H.M. Comer. Later on the initials were used identify which was which. The building also used to house the engineering library until the completion of Rodgers Library in 1990.
