      Psychology Labs

      Location:
      Trauth-Huffman Hall
      Division/College: Department of Psychology
      Hours of Operation: N/A

      Basic Electrophysiology Labs

      • The Department of Psychology has two electrophysiology labs (approximately 150 sq ft each) with equipment appropriate for recording and analysis of electrophysiological data such as continuous blood pressure, galvanic skin response, heart rate, respiration and muscle responses. Specifically, both labs are equipped with multi-channel Biopac MP 150 workstations for Windows running Acknowledge v3.8.2 (Biopac Systems, Goleta, CA) for the recording and analysis of electrophysiological data.

      Behavioral Testing Labs

      • There are 5 labs in the Department of Psychology, each with equipment appropriate for the recording and analysis of behavioral data.  These labs house computer equipment (2 Dell PC Optiplex 760 workstations) running Superlab versions 2.0.1 and 4.0.7 (Cedrus, San Pedro, CA) and ePrime (Psychology Software Tools, Sharpsburg, PA) for the recording and analysis of behavioral data such as reaction time and accuracy.

      Sleep Lab

      • The sleep lab consists of two rooms: a subject room containing a bed and computer workstation, and a recording room with computers for data acquisition and analysis of computers with ERP analysis and source localization software (SCAN 4.3 and CURRY, Neuroscan), and specialized software for quanification and analysis of EEG sleep data (Prana, PhiTools).

      Event-related Potentials Lab

      • The Department of Psychology has an ERP lab, with a sound-insultated, electronically-shielded recording chamber, containing a comfortable chair, computer, monitor, headphone, electrode interface panel and button box.  ERP analysis and source localization are performed in an adjacent 150 sq ft dedicated ERP data storage and analysis lab.  The ERP lab houses a 64-channel SymAmps2 Neuroscan system (high resolution EEG acquisition system) and a Polhemus FASTRAK digitizer to enable source analysis and coregistration of electrode placement across multiple sessions with the same participant.  Computing facilities with ERP analysis and source localization software (SCAN 4.3 and CURRY) are also available.

      Salivary Analysis Lab

      • The salivary analysis laboratory is a dedicated 200 sq ft wet lab in the Department of Psychology, currently set up to analyze salivary cortisol, IgA, testosterone, and DHEA.  the salivary analysis laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including the following:  microtitration plate shaker, dual wavelength microtitration place reader with 450nm and 620nm correction, vortex mixer, centrifuge, autoclave, precision and semi-automatic pipettes and refrigerated/freezer storage for saliva samples.

      Eye-Tracking Labs

      • The Department of Psychology houses an Eye-tracking Lab (approximately 150 sq ft) for eye data recording, analysis and eye-movement metric deveolpment. The lab is equipped with the ISCAN video-based corneal reflection Eye-Tracker (Woburn, MA) for eye movement recording.  The ISCAN is non-invasive eye-tracker system that has the following characteristics: sampling rate- 60Hz, accuracy 0.5°, spatial resolution 0.3°, and drift 0.3°. Data analysis employs custom programming written in MATLAB (version 7.6, Mathworks, Inc.)

      Transcranial Doppler Lab

      • This lab (approximately 150 sq ft) houses a two-channel 2 MHz (bilateral) transcranial laser Doppler system and a computer workstation.  The) transcranial laser Doppler system runs Sonara spectral analysis software (CardinalHealth, Madison,WI).  Data analysis employs custom programming written MATLAB (version 7.6, Mathworks, Inc.)

      Intrapersonal Interaction Labs

      • The Department of Psychology has 4 observation rooms with cameras and computers, and a control room for observing and recording interpersonal interactions.
