    1. Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building

The Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building (ILSB), completed in 2009, was designed to help position Texas A&M at the forefront of the multidisciplinary approach in life sciences, bringing together faculty from different disciplines to engage in research that helps solve complex global problems and provide cutting-edge experiences for students. The three-story edifice, which blends A&M's traditional architectural styles with practical yet elegant 21st century lines, was one of the largest construction projects in the history of Texas A&M. The building houses around 30 robust, flexible laboratories; meeting, seminar, and lecture rooms; core support facilities; computational equipment and spaces to support informatics activities; a 285-seat auditorium and associated auxiliary space; and space to house operational staff. Texas A&M pursued the goal of having the ILSB meet LEED Silver Certification standards in sustainable design, and in fact, the building earned LEED Gold Certification after its completion.
