HISTORY
The Media Resources Center had its beginning in 1962 as Audio-Visual Services in the basement of Ablah Library. At that time, it provided film and slide support for classroom presentations. When public television arrived in Wichita, Channel 13 was launched, although the low ceilings in the basement were less than satisfactory for television production. When Ablah Library was expanded in the mid-1980s, the east addition was specifically designed for the new Media Resources Center, which continues to provide television, radio, and video production, and classroom and online technology. The facility also houses WSU-TV, the university’s 24-hour cable TV channel. The university radio station, KMUW-FM, is also a part of the Media Resources Center but is located at WSU Old Town.
