HISTORYElliott Hall is home for The Elliott School of Communication, which provides interdisciplinary programs related to journalism, electronic media and marketing communications. The Elliott School also offers courses in public speaking and operates the debate / forensics program. The Wichita State student-run newspaper, The Sunflower, has offices in the basement of Elliott Hall. The building was dedicated in 1995 and is named for WSU alumnus Oliver Elliott, a longtime friend of the university and a successful businessman who acquired or initiated a succession of 20 small businesses, serving as chairman of the board or CEO of each of them. It is recognizable by its clock tower and Milton Hebald's sculpture "The Family Group.”
