      1. Hydraulics Workshop: CCE 054

The Hydraulics laboratory supports core civil and mechanical engineering courses, with laboratory and field equipment for open channel, pipe and groundwater flow applications. A hydraulic channel, capable of flows up to two hundred gallons per minute, provides for demonstration and experimentation with principle flow concepts of hydrostatic pressure, continuity, energy and momentum. A variety of flow measurement devices including weirs, flumes and ultrasonic velocity meters are used by students for monitoring flow conditions in open channels like the nearby Mill River. A pipe network bench and pump testing equipment is used for analysis of pipe flow and water distribution components. Groundwater flow fields are visualized in a drainage and seepage tank and drawdown tests with well pumps allow students to gain hands on field experience. Weather stations monitoring rainfall, temperature, relative humidity and wind are located on campus and provide students local water resources related data sets for analysis. Located in the Center for Communications and Engineering.
