      Historical Info:

Built in 1970, DePaolo Hall was the original university cafeteria. After the construction of Wagoner Dining Hall, which opened to students in 1989, the building was renamed Westside Hall because of its geographic location on campus and reverted to general-purpose use.

In April 2011, the building was renamed DePaolo Hall in honor of Dr. Rosemary DePaolo, the sixth chancellor of the university since its founding in 1947. The naming recognizes Chancellor DePaolo’s extraordinary service to UNCW and her unwavering commitment to putting UNCW students first in every decision made during her eight-year tenure (July 2003 – June 30, 2011) as chancellor.
