Date Occupied:
The original university union was first occupied in 1983 and was closed for major renovations beginning July 2006. The renovated and expanded union was re-opened in March 2008.
Historical Info:
The renovated Fisher University Union, which is connected to the Fisher Student Center by a glass-enclosed walkway that offers a panoramic view of the Campus Commons, is named for alumni Herbert ('53) and Sylvia ('50) Fisher and their three children, two of whom are alumni. The Fishers established a $1million endowed fund to support the union and enhance its programs. In addition to Herbert and Sylvia Fisher, the donors are alumna Diana Fisher Abbott, Pam Fisher Snyder, and Carlton Fisher (class of 1983 and vice chair of the UNCW Foundation Board, 2008).
Ann Flack Boseman Gallery was made possible by a gift from Mark Griffis and Dave Robertson in honor of their friend, Ann Flack Boseman.

Teal Terminal:
The Teal Terminal, located outside of the Fisher Student Union and beside the bus loop, is equipped with screens that provide riders with the estimated time of arrival for the shuttles and to inform them of any maintenance or safety issues. The terminal screens display a map showing the real-time location of each shuttle, using GPS technology.
Reducing the number of vehicles traveling to and from campus will lessen the impact that the UNCW community has on the environment. Riding the shuttles is a great way to reduce your carbon "talon" print. Riders are also able to take a bike or skateboard on the shuttles in order to get from their shuttle stop to their final destination. UNCW and Teal Terminal take pride in their commitment to sustainability. UNCW Auxiliary Services and Wave Transit, in coordination with SGA, are excited to provide this feature
