Motorists traveling on Neyland Drive (State Route1) in Knox County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have an impact on traffic.
Beginning at approximately 4 AM on Saturday, October 24th, Neyland Drive will be closed between Jacob Drive and Joan Cronan Way as crews remove and replace the existing railroad crossing in this area.
Detour signage will be in place to direct motorists to roads on the UT campus to bypass the work zone. Motorists can also use I-40 and Alcoa Highway (US129/SR115) as alternate routes. This work is expected to be completed by 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 25th.
Motorists should use extreme caution in this area as crews will be present. As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and "Know Before You Go!" by checking travel conditions before leaving for their destination.
