This building houses several services and spaces for students, including a food court and cafeteria, bookstore, a game room, the Fiesta Room, an employee lounge, the Office of Student Life, and the classrooms and offices of the Department of Journalism and Photography. It’s also home to the Student Pride Office, which opened in August 2022 to provide resources to LGBTQ+ students. In January 2023, Student Life opened the First-Year Experience (FYE) Office as a lounge space to improve services for first-year students. The FYE Office is located next to the Student Pride Office, and across the hall from the SAC eSports Arena. The SAC eSports Arena opened inside the student center in August 2023 to provide a space for students to engage in online gaming by utilizing the latest tech equipment and gaming chairs. The building dates back to 1954 and is named after James Loftin, who became the first president of San Antonio Junior College in 1941.
