Dedicated in 1994, the Fundamental Research Building (P-1), is the headquarters of the
Poultry Education and Research Center, which replaced the original poultry research farm built in the 1930's. The Poultry Education and Research Center consists of a Research Building for conference rooms, classrooms, environmental chambers, hatchery, feed mixing area, surgical suite, laboratory, student housing, and office; Meat Bird Building with research pens and laboratory; Pullet Building with ten large pullet rooms and laboratory; Cage Layer/Market Turkey Building with a cage layer room with a 3,000 hen capacity, egg storage area, egg analysis and processing center, laboratory, and 24 floor pens for market turkeys; Breeder Building with a large cage room, observational floor pens, egg cooler, and laboratory; Processing Building with slaughter rooms, walk-in cooler and freezer, laboratory, shop, and garage.
