Texas State University has successfully achieved a 5% reduction in energy use per square foot in each of the past 5 years. The University has installed occupancy light sensors in more than 20 buildings, changed in excess of 5,000 indoor fluorescent bulbs with new Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs, and continues to do so.
Texas State has replaced approximately 1,613 light fixtures in parking garages with LED lights. The estimated energy cost savings is 80% with the new fixtures.
