        1. 1830s Cabin

Originally built in 1832, this cabin is one of the oldest structures still standing in Dahlonega.

The cabin was donated to the Appalachian Studies Center by Jim and Betty Smulian in 2012; which was transported to campus from their property roughly six miles away.

This cabin was in use during the second American gold rush (Considerate Context: An event that ultimately displaced most of the indigenous Cherokee people in the area.)
