Home of the Hobart and William Smith basketball teams and the William Smith swimming and diving team,
Bristol Gymnasium also houses the offices of Hobart Athletics and the Colleges' sports medicine staff and sports equipment coordinators.
Built in 1965, Bristol Gymnasium houses a full-size basketball court with seating for 1,500 and a six-lane, 25-yard swimming pool with two 1-meter, and one 3-meter diving boards. There is also a mezzanine level spectator-seating area overlooking the water, as well as an underwater viewing window for coaches to observe and critique swimmers' strokes.
Recent renovations to the Gym include a new scoreboard that includes displays for individual player points and fouls as well as all new spectator seating, including a section of stadium chairs. The pool has hosted Finger Lakes High School League and Section V Championships.
Named in honor of Arthur E. Gilman '34, a member of the Hobart Hall of Fame, Bristol Gym's Gilman Room is a luxurious business-style meeting room where coaches and athletics staff have meetings as well as receptions for student-athletes, their parents, and members of the Statesmen Athletic Association.
Outside Bristol Gym there are eight tennis courts, where teams from both Colleges have hosted many conference and ITA regional championship tournaments.
