        HISTORY
Shocker Hall is the first construction project initiated during the administration of WSU President John Bardo. The $65 million, five-story residence hall, opened in August 2014, features housing for more than 750 students, a 400-seat dining hall and classroom and meeting spaces. Updating on-campus housing was seen as an immediate need by President Bardo upon assuming the presidency in July 2012. Bardo was concerned that existing housing options at WSU were showing their age and were located on the periphery of campus. The university broke ground on the facility on June 17, 2013 in a former parking lot south of Cessna Stadium. The private/public partner developer selected by the university was EdR of Memphis, Tenn. The lead design architect was Page Southerland Page (PSP) LLP from Denver, Colo., working with local architects Howard and Helmer and MKEC Engineers. Dondlinger and Sons Construction and Farha Construction were the construction team under EdR.
