            Ayres Hall opened in August 2016 as a co-ed residence for a mix of first-year students and upperclassmen. Ayres Hall was named in recognition of Robert Moss Ayres Jr., C'49, former vice-chancellor of the University. The new hall stands on the former location of Van Ness Hall on Alabama Ave.; the first floor common room fireplace is built from stones repurposed from the Van Ness exterior.
