Bobcat Blend- Dr. Tina Cade (Professor, Department of Agriculture) operates a large compost site at an off-campus location. A contracted waste hauler diverts appropriate campus waste to the site. The compost is sold for fertilizer or used in campus gardens. This includes composting of materials from the dining halls and vermicomposting near the Agriculture Building. Before the initiation of Bobcat Blend, it was estimated that 600 lbs. of food waste were thrown in the trash every day. Since 2011, the cafeteria waste collection by Bobcat Blend has been 77.14 tons per year.
