Lewis Hall
The first truly "green" building on campus, Lewis Hall (LEW) is Silver LEED-certified and is home to undergraduate programs in environmental studies and a graduate program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in which students benefit from the University's relationship with Esri, the world's largest provider of software for mapping and spatial data analytics. Built six feet underground, Lewis Hall is earth-sheltered to preserve energy and uses a photovoltaic array for solar power, demonstrating resource management, sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental design. The building also houses the Center for Spatial Studies, which trains students to work with multi-dimensional representations of information.
