The tower of the Higdon Building is an emblem of Graceland University. The 200,000-brick building houses the president's office and the administration, admissions and marketing teams.
Higdon was the first structure built on campus, opening its doors in 1897. Its name was chosen to honor the three members of the Higdon family who collectively served as Graceland's president for nearly a quarter century: Earl T. Higdon ’27 (1964-66), William T. Higdon ’49 (1966-74 & 1992-97), and Barbara J. Higdon ’49 (1984-91).
