The Swarm Inn is located in Newcom Student Union and serves a variety of quick meal and snack items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers a grill, a taqueria, and grab-and-go items for meals or between classes. There is a variety of seating in the Swarm Inn and throughout the rest of the student union.
There were 66 contest entries to name the Swarm Inn in 1963, for the prize of a newly designed Graceland blazer. The contest deadline was extended to allow for more name suggestions. Finally, the jury selected the name "Swarm Inn" based on the suggestion "The Swarm Room" by Edwards House freshman Les Hall ’68. The Tower campus newspaper later reported that the name "typifies the purpose and activity of the snack shop. Since Yellowjackets do not hive, but instead gather in a swarm, an appropriate center for their gathering and activity is the 'Swarm Inn'."
True to the Yellowjacket spirit, 21 of the 66 entries had used the words hive, nest or honeycomb.
