Winn-Seeley Gymnasium is the headquarters for William Smith Athletics. Since Winn-Seeley was built in 1970, the size of the athletics program tripled and in 1996 a large renovation project to upgrade Winn-Seeley was begun. A wing was added housing 12 new offices, giving each head coach his or her own space. A team meeting room, The Boswell Room, was added, along with the Heron Hall of Honor room. A women's locker room was divided into three spaces - one for women, one for men, and one for female coaches.
The Winn-Seeley Gym is named for William Smith Athletics pioneers Marcia Winn and Janet Seeley. The two professors played a lead role in the physical education and dance department for more than four decades, championing the female student-athlete. They were inducted into the Heron Hall of Honor with the inaugural Class of 1997.
