The Outdoor Program
The Outdoor Program is a student-run organization and Campus Rec units that provides members of the Willamette community with opportunities to explore the Pacific Northwest, engage with peers, and participate in a wide range of recreational activities..
Trips
Trips are made as accessible and inclusive as possible to all students. The schedule of trips is posted each semester with a link to tour storefront where you can purchase and reserve your spot. Trips have limited capacity and fill on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each trip includes the trip leaders, transportation to the location, permits and admission, group equipment and food. Participants can borrow most personal gear items required for each trip for free, too. Or your organization can create a custom collaborative trip with us. Think about a retreat to Smith Rock with guided climbing, a hike with transportation and food on the Eagle Creek Trail, or a paddle down the Willamette River enjoying the water in fall.
Gear Rental
Gear rental service, where students, staff and faculty can rent camping gear including backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, stoves and pots. You can also rent winter activity equipment like snowshoes, boots, and warm apparel. We have standup paddleboards (SUPs) that are inflatable and easy to transport, too. Rental requires current email, phone number, address and Willamette ID.
The Bike Shop
The Bike Shop offers basic bike support in a learning lab model where student leaders work with customers to address your bike maintenance needs. Our bike program includes advocacy on campus collaborating with organizations and departments to create and support a more bike-friendly campus. The Bike Shop recycles and refurbishes bikes obtained through donations or unreturnable bikes from local law enforcement's lost or stolen bike return efforts. These bikes can be be borrowed on a reservation basis when they are in good working order. The Bike Shop and programs are in a growing phase and we appreciate your assistance and support.
