Centennial Fountain
Location: Corner of Moore Street and Oscar Smith Drive
Originally dedicated as the Friendship Fountain in 1963 by the San Marcos Baptist Academy, the Centennial Fountain on West Campus (at the corner of Moore Street and Oscar Smith Drive) was part of the acquisition of the Baptist Academy property in 1978.
After the fountain fell out of commission in the early 1980s, faculty and students from the Department of Technology raised money and worked for a year and a half to restore the fountain as a gift to the university for its centennial. The fountain was rededicated under its current name during homecoming week, October 2000.
The fountain is a series of three different sized bowls, which are filled with fire and turned into three torches during homecoming and graduation at Texas State.
