Tilton Hall is one of the residence halls which houses an all first-year option. The building is the perfect size for promoting close interaction among its residents. It is also large enough to house a representative cross-section of the class. Tilton’s programs and resources are tailored to meet the particular needs of first-year students. Best of all, a Tufts scholar actually lives in Tilton. This Scholar-in-Residence coordinates weekly discussions that feature other Tufts scholars and mentors students about their course selection, acclamation to college life and overall well-being at Tufts University.
Location - Tilton Hall is located downhill between Haskell Hall and Lewis Hall. It is located near the Mayer Campus Center as well Hodgdon Take-Out and Dewick-MacPhie Dining Hall. Tilton is a staffed residence hall, with four Resident Assistants.

Rooms - The average double room is 12.5’ x 15’ with additional closet space. There are 72 doubles. Each room is furnished with moveable furniture and one window with a shade. The furniture set consists of an extra long twin bed, a desk, and a desk chair. The beds are multi-positioned beds that have eleven height adjustments up to 32 inches with 30 inches of space underneath when raised to maximum height. The use of solid cinder blocks or any other material, to raise the multi-position beds is prohibited in Tilton.
Common Areas - A large main lounge is located on the ground floor. It is furnished with a television, couches, chairs, and table. A smaller lounge is located adjacent to the main lounge which contains a ping-pong table and vending machines. There are also small lounges on each floor which contain a table and chairs.
Facilities - Tilton has one common kitchen adjacent to the main lounge. It is equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, sink, and a microwave. Washing machines and clothes dryers are located on the ground floor. There is also a bicycle storage rack.
