Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1954, John Heisman was Georgia Tech's first full-time head football coach, from 1904 to 1919.
Heisman built the foundation for all of Georgia Tech athletics, serving as the Institute's first athletic director.
The Heisman Trophy, awarded annually to the nation's most outstanding college football player and one of the most prestigious individual awards in all of sports, is named for him.
Rumor has it that if you place a penny, head up, under the left foot of the Heisman statue, you'll bring the Jackets good luck.
