      1. Northern Right Whale Monitoring Program

         Organization: Marine Resources Council of East Florida
         
         Funding volunteer training and outreach programs to maintain a network of whale-watching citizens who report North Atlantic Right Whale sightings.  The reports are relayed to ships traveling in the whale calving grounds to help prevent collisions.  Gathering long- term data on habitat, behavior and reproduction of these rare whales which number less than 400.  The DWCF has been supporting this program since 2001.
