First dedicated on August 28, 1969 as a $1.7 million dollar Treasury Department Training Center building designed by Louis Jensen. It was called a modern 12 sided, bronze paneled building that resembled a baby Pentagon, in a windowless design. It was jointly shared by the National Training Center of the U.S. Bureau of Customs and by the North-Atlantic Regional Training Center of the Internal Revenue Service and leased by Hofstra University. In 1981, the U.S. Eastern District Court opened its doors on October 20th. Now called Hagedorn Hall the building was completely renovated and dedicated to Amy and Horace Hagedorn on October 9, 2003. Home to the School of Education, Hagedorn Hall's current academic uses include the Counseling, Research, Special Education and Rehabilitation, Curriculum and Teaching, and Literacy Studies departments.
