    1. Segal Building

Purchased in 1961, the Barnet J. Segal building was the first building the Institute acquired, allowing it to move out of rented classrooms. The building was previously home to the Monterey Public Library for 40 years. It featured separate reading rooms for adults and children and a basement smoking room for gentlemen only. Today the building is home to the office of the vice president for academic affairs and other senior administrators.
