      1. Conserving Philippines Cave Bats

         Organization: Bat Conservation International
         
         Initiating a bat research, education and conservation program in the Philippines, specifically for threatened and largely neglected bat habitats, limestone caves and their immediate surroundings.  This is an extraordinary opportunity to partner with the Philippine government, University of the Philippines, and other academic and non-governmental organizations in a project that will have far-reaching impact in protecting whole ecosystems in a country recognized as one of our planet's top biodiversity "hot spots."
