Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa)
A highly desirable tree, bur oak is characterized by strong branches, classic rounded oak leaves and acorns encased in a furry bur-like cap. Young stems have interesting corky ridges that provide winter interest. Its symmetrical, dense crown makes it well-suited for street planting. Native to the Midwest and Great Plains, it is highly recommended for planting in Utah where space is available. Fall color is usually insignificant.
