One of the world's largest trees, giant sequoia bears prickly, awl-shaped foliage, which grows on branches that radiate from a central reddish-brown trunk. This evergreen is surprisingly fast in growth and well adapted to Utah landscapes where temperatures don't get too cold. It's main liability is that it will eventually outgrow the space allotted to it. When that day arrives and you must remove a giant sequoia, the bill will also be giant. However you may break even with all the redwood lumber you'll have!
