This oak populates most of Utah's foothills and mountains. Found throughout the state, it forms shrubby thickets but can reach tree size over time. An excellent choice for waterwise landscapes, Gambel oak has the ability to regenerate after fires. Fall color is brownish-orange although stunning shades of red are not uncommon.
