The Farmer's Market started in 1934, when a dozen nearby farmers began to park their trucks on a field to sell fresh produce to local residents. The cost to rent the space was fifty cents per day. This experiment was so successful that the market kept on expanding. At that time it truly was a fruit and vegetable market. Over the years the market has expanded to accommodate more and more vendors. Today there are all kinds of fruit, vegetable, and other food stands, along with restaurants, and specialty shops. You can find everything from jewelry and candles to kitchenware and kids toys.
