Emerson College Los Angeles opened for students in 2014, successfully condensing student housing, classrooms, and administrative offices into a single urban location. Architectural firm Morphosis won the grand prize at the 2014 Los Angeles Architectural Awards for their design of the 107,400 sq. ft. building. The 10-story cube-like structure features two residential towers which bookend open-air courtyards and meeting spaces. The sustainable design includes automated sunshades, renewable materials, and building management infrastructure.
