    1. Storer House

The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Storer Residence nestled in the Hollywood Hills was built in 1923 for Dr. John Storer, a homeopathic physician. Wright used the textile block motif to fit the home into the hillside, trying to create the impression that the home was a man-made extension of the landscape.

Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings with a consciousness of the environment decades before the environmental movement began. Buildings were designed with strong horizontal lines causing his buildings to visually be tied to the surrounding environment. At the Storer House the concrete textile blocks were cast on site using earth material from the site as aggregate mixed with cement which was poured into forms to make the concrete blocks.
