Part of the Pacific Design Center, the 441,847 square feet Red Building goes green achieving LEED Certification. More than a quarter of a century ago, Cesar Pelli conceived the 14-acre site to contain three buildings arranged around a plaza for the Cohen Brothers Realty Corp. The first structure, known as the Blue Whale, was designed when Pelli was with Gruen Associates and completed construction in 1975. The Green Building, designed with his own firm, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, followed in 1988. The final structure, the Red Building, is composed of two curved, sloping towers atop seven levels of parking. It follows West Hollywood stringent green building codes highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows and technologically advanced building systems.
