Epstein Family Amphitheater at UC San Diego for its commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and creating a new public arts and entertainment space open to and for the region. The Amphitheater, which is strategically oriented to hide support facilities and use the natural landscape to lower solar heat gain and increase shading, not only achieved LEED Gold certification but celebrates the land’s first peoples by etching indigenous Kumeyaay language and tradition into the hardscape.
