California State University Northridge is committed to being a national leader in sustainability. In order to achieve this goal, we take a campus-wide approach to accomplishing our initiatives which requires involvement from all facets of the University. We have developed a Sustainability Plan that has helped guide our efforts and outline important milestones, all of which are on track to be accomplished. CSUN is a proud signatory of the Second Nature Climate Commitment, which not only commits the campus to climate neutrality by 2040 but also ensures that we plan for resiliency. We have been rated a Gold university by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) using their Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System. CSUN is recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Campus USA and by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for our efforts in food waste diversion.
