          Occupied in 2010, the Cahill Center boasts 100,000 square feet of offices, laboratories, and common areas that allow some 300 of Caltech's top-ranked astronomy and astrophysics faculty and graduate students to work together in a building dedicated to their needs. The facility also includes the 150-seat Hameetman Auditorium and an astrophysics library. In recognition of Cahill's energy-efficient design, it was awarded the first LEED Gold certification on campus. Cahill's street address, 1216, is a unique number it represents the wavelength of ultraviolet light emitted by hydrogen, the most common element in the universe.
