The Foreman Art Gallery is located next to Centennial Theatre in the Student Union Building and houses exhibitions by professionals as well as graduating Fine Arts students. T
he gallery presents rotating exhibitions that focus on cultural and social issues.
Through its Community Art Lab it seeks to redefine the limits of museum work by engaging with issues common to artists and gallery visitors through films, discussion groups, workshops and presentations. It explores from a creative point of view the pressing social issues of our day and how these affect our direct community. It gathers individuals from the community, whether students, artists, researchers and members of the general population and via public events, works towards stimulating an increased understanding of the visual and media arts in the City of Sherbrooke.
There are opportunities for students to get involved as volunteers and gain valuable experience. Students from various programs such as Art Education, Art History and Fine Arts can also apply to participate in an experiential learning program and gain hands-on experience at the gallery while earning academic credits. The yearly Grad Show is a unique opportunity for the graduating Fine Arts students to show their artwork in a professional gallery and work closely with a professional curator.
