    1. The LA Diner

      Ed Mills, BEd '74
A World premiere of the original play & screenplay by Ed Mills & Jeremy Palmer. Set in a 1960s Hollywood diner during Marilyn Monroe's final days.

The L.A. Diner tells the story of people dealing with a changing America. Set against the backdrop of 1960s Hollywood, the denizens of the L.A. Diner literally live and work in the shadow of the 20th Century Fox Studio lot where they see some of the day's most famous faces and cater to the crews and screenwriters that really make the magic happen.

These people; two chefs - one black and one white, an aging hostess, a waitress/aspiring actress, a gossip reporter, a stand in for a top screen icon, and a formerly blacklisted writer - learn who they really are as a result of how they react to the changing culture of Hollywood and America during one of the most tumultuous times either has experienced.

Based on historical events in the life of the iconic Marilyn Monroe, this unique live theatrical play is set in the time when Monroe was fired from her last movie ‘Something’s Got to Give’!

‘The LA Diner’ is a character driven, period piece drama set in 1960s Hollywood in a small eating establishment sitting across the street from the studio filming Monroe’s final, unfinished film. Evie, Marilyn’s stand in, is caught up in the complex world of celebrity and deceit by an unscrupulous Hollywood gossip reporter. Her story unfolds amid the other charming characters at the local diner in the heart of Hollywood called ‘The LA Diner’.
