Oelman Hall, the second building in the Founders' Quadrangle, was named in honor of Robert S. Oelman, first chair of the WSU Board of Trustees, and co-chair with Stanley C. Allyn, of the university's building fund, which launched the university. Completed in 1966, it housed the Oelman Auditorium which for several years was the only facility for large meetings, performances, and visiting speakers. Oelman Hall also housed the office of founding president, Brage Golding.
