        Opened in 1954, Ross Residence Hall is named after the 19th president of Butler, Maurice O’Rear Ross, and serves as a coed residence hall that accommodates primarily first-year students. Ross offers four specialty units: two Living Learning Centers for men; one Living Learning Center for women; and one Substance-Free Unit. Social programming and events, such as karaoke night and stress-relief sessions, are available to Ross Hall residents. Some features of Ross Hall include: a kitchen and laundry room in the basement; microwaves in the lobby; a quiet study lounge; computer lab; game room with three pool tables, foosball, and ping-pong tables; TV room with big-screen television; bicycle storage; and front-desk operations.
