McMurtry House
Each of Rice’s 11 (soon 12) residential colleges is led by college magisters who live in on-campus residences adjacent to the colleges they serve and whose role is to advise the students' own elected leadership. College magisters are usually a married couple (at least one of whom must be a tenured faculty member), although single faculty members occasionally serve as magisters. Magisters and their families are recruited, interviewed and nominated by the students of each respective college and typically serve five-year terms.
